I did not think that Mega Man would be one of the franchises that is killed off. (Although one wonders what the hell is up with the new IP Dragon’s Dogma though.) Street Fighter itself was actually dead over much of the past decade until Street Fighter IV as well. Over the past decade, Capcom has been killing off its lesser selling franchises in order to consolidate all efforts into million selling franchises like Street Fighter, DmC, Monster Hunter, and Resident Evil, along with reviving older million selling franchises like MvC3 and milking the hell out of those. Until then as long as Capcom runs the franchise, the series is pretty much a ripoff at this point. If someone else picks up the Mega Man franchise and wants to run with it I will gladly support it. They make promises they can’t keep and as a result, I no longer want to support them. yet I just can’t look past it any longer.Ĭapcom really sucks as a company. I’ve always supported this community – even though I’m some what of a lurker nowadays – it just sucks to see this happen.Ĭapcom has been a real disappointment of a company for the last several years – releasing shoddy Mega Man games with unfinished translations, bugs, trading in high quality anime cut scenes for cookie cutter photo and text, craptastic voice acting, mixing up story plot lines, starting new series without finishing other series first… as a really passionate Mega Man fan, I always tried to look past all the faults of the parent company. I’ve been a Mega Man fan for over 20 years, been an extremely loyal follower of the series since grabbing my first copy of Mega Man 2 in elementary school. Why should I support this, Capcom? Why should I buy your games when you treat us so? The mail-in idea should still happen, we should still support MM元. BUT, do not let this happen without consequence. Capcom I know you can do better than this. And you just rendered all their efforts as useless. Why? B/c MML was a series that was just pure fun and made us feel good. But MM元 had hundreds, maybe thousands of hardworking decent people who used their own time and resources to help create this video game. It would be understandable to not begin them b/c of their risks it was even some-what understandable to cancel MMU due to its lack of a fan base. No You failed because your priorities are set on safe money. You failed not because you didn’t work hard or even do a good job. We’re not trash, we have hopes and a lot of people put their hope in you capcom. I was about to buy a 3Ds just to play the prototype.Ĭapcom, why? Oh right, money. On the bright side, those who felt the game shouldn’t happen just because they were not fans of the series should be good and happy now. Naturally, you can leave your own anguished comments below (but please avoid heavy cursing that will get caught in the filter, and won’t help anyone). We believe it goes without saying that this remains to be seen.Īn FAQ follows the official statement, outlining what happens and what can be done with user contributions, as well as clarifying that “The cancellation of the MM元 project is in no way related to Inafune-san leaving the company.” They also note that in spite of this and the cancellation of Mega Man Universe, “ Mega Man is still an important franchise within Capcom’s portfolio and we will continue to pursue opportunities to create new titles in the series.” “We thank you all so much for your extended support of this title and this community, and we hope that you will continue to support the Mega Man franchise as well as other Capcom games.” On behalf of the entire Legends team, please accept our sincere apology for failing to meet the expectations of the fans.” “We can only express our deepest apologies to all of you who have lent us your unending support, including participation in the Mega Man Legends 3 Developer Room. Despite this, the North American Devroom and its forums will remain open indefinitely, giving fans at least one outlet to voice their despair. With that, the fate of not only the game, but the Prototype Version have been sealed. The post goes on to detail the insight the Devroom allowed fans, and that the game did not meet the criteria required of different sectors of the company. Today, however, we must regrettably announce the discontinuation of this project.” “We’d like to thank you for your ongoing loyal support of Mega Man Legends 3. Mega Man Legends 3 Project Liason “Gregaman” has posted what is the last update to the Devroom on Capcom Unity, bearing the bad news:
