And there is no instance that overally ensures compatibility between each ram modules and each mainboard.Ī ram module that says XMP 3200 just says that this ram module can use 3200Mhz. It's not a generic standard, it's just an intel thing. On the other hand, DOCP and XMP are litteraly the same thing, but just named differently.įrom what i heared, Asus calls it DOCP (and Gigabyte calls it EOCP) to avoid paying license fees to intel for using the name XMP.Īnd that's also the issue why XMP (or whatever called) has to be considered as overclocking even if it is "simple one click" overclocking. While BIOS and UEFI are both just starting up your system, they are related just like the wheel and a spaceship. It's been common enough lately that I find myself just saying XML/DOCP most of the time. I just don't know which brand might be comparable to Asus as I've kind of stuck with them since the very beginning with blinders on, so I don't even know if there are any good ones out there anymore. I won't dismiss past experiences with their product, but I am beginning to be a bit more open to maybe trying out a different brand other than MSI who are known to be a bunch of unprofessional cry babies. Overall, this motherboard and Asus's overall support has kind of made me reflect on the name brand a bit more. And the fact that the motherboard kept throwing ram error codes at me when it was a lack of CPU support and was forced to do a bios update while in a powered off state before the computer would stop beeping and flashing ram error codes. I don't know why they didn't just keep it as a pdf file like with previous boards as at least that's always been reliable, but companies love to re-invent the wheel. it wasn't until after I complained about it that it finally got partially fixed and then a few days later a representative emailed me telling me there was nothing at all wrong with it. Even their sound drivers haven't received a single update since release.Īlso, for the longest time, their QVL section was completely broken and unusable. It's sad when I (and many others as it is a known issue) have to rely on Windows generic drivers just because the manufacturer refuses to support their own products correctly. They just refuse to help their customers properly. I even went as far as to complain about their lack of support and yet I still got a generic response and an attached file of the broken driver. I tried explaining it to them and all I got was a scripted generic response with a link to their broken driver. It is the only driver available on their website and it doesn't work at all. And even after finishing all the latest updates, Asus LAN drivers still refused to work. It wasn't until I tethered my phone to the PC that I could get a working driver through Windows update and was finally able to get the internet working without the phone. ![]() I tried everything to force it to work and it refused. I have a ROG Strix B550-F (non wifi) motherboard and the LAN drivers on their website is 100% useless for me. Well, their support lately has been extremely lacking for me. Well aside from the weird naming, their boards are still some of the best in the industry.
